Trails!

Did you know that many District Lands not only provide river access via boat ramps, river camps and spring parks, but many tracts also have hiking trails. In fact, part of the National Scenic Trail System - The Florida Trail (https//www.floridatrail.org) goes along the river banks at many of our land tracts. Get out and explore and don't forget to make observations of what you see!

Preserving Rare and Threatened Species

Already one vulnerable species has been spotted, the Green-fly Orchid, a perennial orchid found nestled on the limbs of trees, particularly of live oaks and magnolias in the swampy areas. This orchid blooms in late spring and summer, so it's a little hard to spot at this time and it is generally nestled with resurrection ferns on tree branches. Over collection, and habitat destruction from logging and clearing are its major threat.

Welcome!

Welcome to our Citizen Science project - we are asking you to help us categorize the plants and animals that are found on the lands that we steward. Having a good idea about the species and their diversity will assist us in making better land management decisions.

Please put in the "Notes" field which Tract you are on when you make the observation.

We really appreciate your help with this project!
