With the leaves off the deciduous trees I was finally able to spot this bird climbing up a tree. I am familiar with its look due to class outings.

Rocky slope near mountain top that is covered by low growing Nootka Cypress (Alaska Yellow Cedar). Maybe snow slides knock the tops off?

This pika was less than two feet from the very busy Snow Lake trail. It was unfazed by both people and dogs passing by.
