Not much of a photographer, but that might change after accidentally taking this photo. This was one of the top species I wanted to see in Borneo, and it was easier to find than I thought. The Dusun word for these is "Takang", which is also what the call sounds like.

Two birds moving back and forth over the Benton/Lane County line on Prairie Peak. Unusual and a first in the Coast Range for me. There have been reports from the Coast Range in several counties over the past few days.

Massive 240' ft+ Douglas fir with a dead top. it is not the largest douglas fir in this stand. one of the only old growth sites in Columbia County. old growth was logged right up to the ridgeline where it sits. unstable and muddy hillsides. logging this patch of old growth would be a mistake if it happens.

I was exiting the freeway and saw these three clowns pecking at the signpost on the side of the road.

This is right next to a part of the canyon with a growing number of Acorn Woodpeckers. They have also spread to the end of Rose Canyon just west of Genesee.
