This species can only be found in Saudi Arabia. They were thought to have disappeared from this area, a stronghold of their former range. This is the first time they have been documented here in many years. #savetheasirmagpie #حمايةالعقعقالعسيري

Photo 1: Mama hawk was in the nest, tending to the babies. A few trees down, Papa hawk was relaxing and avoiding the honey do list. What was surprising is that there was a blue jay also relaxing beside Papa.
Photo 2: Normally the blue jay would be screaming and hasseling the hawk but these two just sat and chilled, occasionally looking at each other.
Photo 3: I like to think that maybe the jay was a new dad also with a mate back at the nest. Playing hooky from parental responsibilities.
Photo 4: To my surprise, the jay flew over and perched right beside the hawk, still very chill, no squawking at all.
Photo 5: I guess guys have each others backs when it comes to avoiding the honey do list.
Photo 6: My last shot before continuing on my way. Both birds are very relaxed. One of the strangest things I've ever seen.

Crow Returns With Corn
The crow came back to my bird bath, this time carrying a kernel of corn in one foot. Crows often dip their food in water before eating it, kind of like raccoons.

The crow dunked the corn in the water several times. Did a little research & experts believe crows dip their food in water to add moisture content & improve ease of consumption.

Now the corn is wet & dripping. The crow flew off with it.
