I believe this was a White-browed Scrubwren with some sort of facial damage, mutation or injury. Like it had somehow lost all the feathers on the front of its face

Seen by participants in the Merri Creek Bird Survey run by the Friends of Merri Creek. A snake skin was found nearby, so perhaps from the same animal.
