Descripción

I found this flower much closer to the lake's edge than any of the other wildflowers I found, which makes sense as these flowers prefer shade and wet conditions. These flowers attract rubythroated hummingbirds and long-tongued bees seeking nectar. Gamebirds and mice eat the seeds and deer like the foliage. Jewelweeds also produce sap that is supposed to soothe irritation caused by poison ivy and stinging nettle, as well as treat athlete's foot.
