Can they smell frogs? This one couldn't see well. Instead of hanging out by the lake it was checking out the back porch where I had a small tub with some duckweed and inverts that a leopard frog moved into.

I thought it was about to shed because of the cloudy eyes. During the following winter I found it hiding under bushes in the front yard and it still looked to have cloudy eyes. The following spring my next door neighbor found it in their front yard (under bushes). I caught it and carried it down to the wooded area next to the lake because I didn't want it to get run over or deliberately killed by construction workers coming to replace our septic system. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/45295470 https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/105287772 At that time it still had cloudy eyes and was very skinny. I guess it had a stuck shed on its eyes and was having trouble catching food. A year later I saw a healthy looking one going after frogs. It was a lot more brown than this one. I assume it was a different one and that this one probably died, but I hope I'm wrong.
