It was caught in a roadside ditch by a Great Blue Heron. In the first pic you can see one of the front legs. In the 2nd pic the heron is holding the siren by it’s leg. There's additional pics and a short video of the encounter here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S160276041

This observation is for the leopard frog on the left. Wildlander ended up finding it a few feet away from the pickerel so decided to get a comparison shot. Note the bold worm creeping up in the second pic.

Was walking through the creek when I see this sight! I always love watching feeding behavior with wild snakes. It just sucks it had to be red salamander larva.

Today a group of Virginia Tech students, Virginia Tech professor - Kevin Hamed, Tennessee State University professor - Bill Sutton, TDEC State Zoologist - David Withers, and Metro Park staff, studied Poplar Creek to check out how our population of the state endangered Streamside Salamander, ambystoma barbouri, are doing.
Bells Bend Park currently holds the westernmost population in Tennessee. Up until today, larvae and eggs had been spotted multiple times but never an adult. Today TWO adults were found!

I saw this tiny lizard sunning itself on a dead tree by the mountain streams bank. It was a sunny autumn day, approximately 60°. A few hundred yards down the river, I observed two more equal size, one was more green than the other. Both specimens were approximately 2 inches in length.
