Yo creo que sería muy bueno la opinión sobre el tema de @pioleon @alexiz, @araceliaguilar, @carlos2, @francisco3_tutor muchos saludos.
Gracias @coatzin, @bcfl14, thanks!
If this is a case in which our authority (POWO) is wrong, we can create deviations so other curators know not to try and sink the infraspecies.
Si este es otro caso en el que nuestra autoridad taxonomica externa (POWO) esta equivocada, podemos crear desviaciones para que sea obvio lo que hemos hecho y otros no intenten deshacerlo.
Un saludo!
Thank you @pioleon, it sounds like distinguishing infraspecific taxa is useful and we should set up a deviation. I have deleted the proposed merger.
Should we also distinguish C. annuum var. conoides? It appears to be purely a cultivated taxon.
In order to follow POWO, which treats all infraspecies explicitly as synonyms of Capsicum annuum (http://www.plantsoftheworldonline.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:316944-2#synonyms), I have set up a proposed swap: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_changes/76107
The main identifiers are @coatzin, @pioleon, @lanechaffin, @alexiz, @connlindajo.
The main observers are @pioleon, @francisco3_tutor, @bcfl14, @companyink
Unless there is a good case to deviate, all the observations of infraspecies will be merged into Capsicum annuum.
