All over this park in California, so pretty
Purdy 1387. Specimen to be housed at Inyo National Forest (INF) Herbarium in Bishop, CA.
ID notes: Keys here or to H. brachyantherum based on infl and spikelet morphology. Went with H. depressum based on infls gen included at maturity (not pictured) and plants appearing +/- annual. There are no nearby collection of H. depressum in this area and plant was collected 200m above described elevation range in Jepson, which might make brachyantherum the better option?
Growing on rock cliffs, something knocked down to the sand.
Leaves are filled with liquid and will burst when exposed to pressure, leaves are thick and rigid and in a spiral formation, plant is growing horizontally along the ground and the stems are up to a foot long.
