Flipped under a rock at the top of mesa. The snake immediately receded into its hole which was less than an inch in diameter. It didn't have space to turn around and get away so I was able to pretty easily excavate it
Found this dude going down into a canyon. It ran from the basking location into this small gap. Tried to coerce it out but even though it didn't have any more space to move deeper it just sat there.
I don't know if this is common behavior. Found about 6 feet above ground in this plant near water. This reminds me more of a rough green snake than a ribbon snake. A classmate found one in a similar position elsewhere on the property. If anyone has more experience with these I'd love to know if this common behavior
Found swimming across the spring. Saw it surface onto a bank and chased it down. Fled back into the water and fully submerged. Pulled it straight out of the water where it stopped in place completely underwater. Released it a bit later and it fled back into the water. Definitely my first aquatic coachwhip
