Here is a black squirrel, behind me a brown squirrel I will post next
Here is a brown squirrel, behind me was a black squirrel I just posted. Many cities in Canada have only brown/red squirrels
I went back to campus to look for the white sparrows. This male cardinal was with a female (see last post), and gray catbirds, trying to fend off a stray cat that lives on campus. That's why they stayed put. Cardinals are always so elusive for me, this is the first time I have had a clear photo (poor lighting tho :-)
One of the resident peregrine falcons
This male cardinal was with a female, singing and flying back-and-forth between bushes across the street. Could not get a better photo
6 cardinals (4 females, 2 males) eating seeds under a tree; flew up to perch as I approached (always so elusive right)
This beautiful massive elm tree is on my grandparents yard in southern Manitoba. Most in the area were killed by Dutch Elm Disease
Herd of elk grazing through snow on creek just east of Canmore, Alberta
It is about 1 cm wide, on the wall above the kitchen sink.
Is this a Scarlet Tanager? I grew up in Canada in Alberta, we did not have these. But this bird was on the back of a cereal box that I remember well. This is the first time I have seen one. Exciting.
