Population along roadside. Pulled and bagged 14 or 15 before getting cholla'ed and going home. Not a dense population, but not sure how far it extends.
Found the motherlode in the wash - 1500 or 2000 of the tiniest stinknet in a dense patch.
Moved out of the garden.
I finally saw some rails! Two of them here poking slowly through the branches. I saw them multiple times and for several minutes.
Finally saw a solitary sandpiper— I’ve been trying to run down one of these several times over the last couple months and kept striking out and just getting spotted sandpipers our yellowlegs instead. Took a while to find this one and sort it out from all the spotted sandpipers also around, but then it was nice to be able to compare them side by side. Like the books say, they do bump their tail but not as frequently as spotteds!
Cool to see one of these in breeding color!
