With the Sun at one of the hottest portions of the day, the Virginia creeper was located growing up a tree. The area around the plant was filled with other green brush and flowers on the ground. The leaves were close to two inches long, whereas the plant in its entirety was about one foot long.

I observed Lilies, also known as Lilium. More specifically in my research I was led to believe this flower was a Dwarf Asiatic Lily. It was approximately 63 degrees fahrenheit at about 12:15 in the afternoon on April 1st, 2016 while walking on a trail while visiting the Mill Mountain Zoo park in Roanoke, VA. The flower was approximately 2.5" in width and grew to be about 26" off of the ground.

On the property of The Home Place in Catawba, Virginia, stands a Chinese Chestnut. Since the Chestnut blight fungus (Cryphonectria parasitica) originated from Asia with the Chinese Chestnut, the two species evolved together allowing the Chinese Chestnut to develop a resistance to the fungus.

WIth this observation, I can add the sense of taste. I ate one of the chestnuts. It was delicious!

I saw these small white flowers growing out of rock formations on Poor Mountain in Salem, Va. I saw these flowers on April 17th at around 3:42 pm. The plants were approximately 6-8 inches tall and the flowers were 2-3 cm across. I now believe that these were Chickweeds (Stellaria media). I saw them on a Sunday afternoon when the weather was around 78 degrees Fahrenheit. I think they're so pretty!
