The weather was 31°C, it was partly cloudy. The plant looks similar to a palm tree, it has long thin leaves. The tree didn't have any visual flowers, or fruits. Most likely it is a Cabbage Palmetto (Sabal Palmetto). Some of these plants seem like they are tall trees, and some seem like they are ground plants. I referred to both the Atlas of Florida plants, and Discover life plant ID, they both suggest that what I observed was a Sabal etonia which is a type of palm.

Hundreds of pink/red spots on the oak tree. The outer rim of the fungi was a pink color, the body faded into white, and the center of the spots were slightly raised pink bumps. Many different circular shapes that matched the form and texture of the tree bark. Sizes of spots varied. The tree was in the woods near other trees with similar spots. The day was humid, not much sunshine. The spots were in the shade the time it was observed. Photo taken with Samsung Galaxy S8 phone.

This observation was made at 4:05pm with an iphone X camera. Weather: The weather was hot and humid because it had just stopped raining. The temperature was 93 degrees Fahrenheit and there was a 63% humidity level.
Habitat: This organism was found in a densely packed forest with large trees and diverse vegetation that was in the vicinity of the Hillsborough river.
This observation was concluded to be a lovebug. These insects are said to be very small black flies with the males that are smaller with larger eyes compared to the females. They are completely black with a reddish orange spot behind their head. They have a veiny pattern on their branched wings which are black but not fully opaque. Their antenna each have 7-12 segments each. Lovebugs can be found in almost any habitat especially in pastures, grass, and decaying vegetation. These characteristics of the organism and the habitat are consistent with my observation. Lovebugs are distributed across all the states boarding the Gulf of Mexico and north to Georgia and South Carolina. They occur two times a year: late spring and late summer.
