Sunny. 21 degrees. The turtle was on the highway crossing from east to west. I stopped and assisted it in crossing safely to the water on the other side of the highway. It is my first turtle of the season, and my first blanding’s turtle.
My first Blanding’s at Luther. Moved off the road to safety.
Found this little guy on the bicycle path facing towards Corbett Creek Marsh. About 1" in diameter. No nests nearby and no injury. Initially took it home to figure out best thing for it. After contacting the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre we made the decision to release it in the marsh closer to where the other turtles were seen (about 500 m away from where found). Hopefully it survives its first year!
