Some of the gills were serrated, but others were not.
Light brown, convex cap,
Tapered stipe thats darker at base and lightens upwards,
Lavender gills,
Blue UV on gills,
Near sitka spruce/cascara/alder,
Acrid taste,
Indistinct KOH,
Slightly viscid cap,
Indistinct odor
Growing on Quercus agrifolia - Do you think this is Phellinus gilvus?
This was growing on dead wood. I don't know what kind of wood it was, but the nearest trees were sycamore, willow, and oak. I'm not sure if this is the same species, but it reminded me of this fungi I observed years ago: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/8973726
Quercus agrifolia, Arbutus menziesii, Arctostaphylos. Velvety cap. Broadly attached gills. BRIGHT yellow UVF on gills and stipe. Brown KOH reaction on cap. Odor reminiscent of a plant that I seem to recognize as toxic but can't remember the plant from just the odor
