I was quite amazed to see that the wind gusts to 30 mph simply made the plover scurry a bit further downhill on the sand.
Pictured here often (could be same individual returning or different ones). Believe it is a Cooper's hawk, but correct me if I'm wrong.
At a natural spring, in a forested area of mostly Ponderosa pine, juniper, Douglas-fir.
Spotted at least three and there may have been one or two more. It was hard to keep track of them as they were diving and I was distracted watching the pelican.
Pretty much the only option the Cormorant could be. No clue of the wading bird in the photo
