Growing in kikuyu lawn adjacent to large, old River Red gum trees. Mature specimens cap was somewhat umbonate but young ones (last photo) were convex. There was small evidence of veil remnants around the edge of the cap
The surface of the cap was velutinus. The stem was felty.

@else advises this is a Leucoagaricus. It is included in A Field Guide to Australian fungi as a ?Lepiota sp.
