Grice

On April 4, we went to Grice. There, the weather was very nice. It was about 70 degrees and sunny, with slight winds. We observed the beach area, and tidal pools. We saw a couple types of seaweed, hermit crabs, blue crabs, sea squirts, and found stark teeth. We also used a net to catch the minnows and other marine life in the tidal pools.

DNR boat

On April 18, we went on a DNR boat to trawl in the Charleston Harbor. The weather was partly cloudy, about 76 degrees with a slight ocean breeze. We captured a huge variety of organisms with the net, including an octopus, multiple squid, and a type of sea snail not native to the area. We also netted a couple stingrays, lots of crabs (mostly blue crabs), many types of small fish, and lots of large shrimp. We were also visited by a lot of pelicans and seagulls trying to eat the fish we threw back overboard.

On Campus

On February 28, we walked around campus to see the plants it had to offer. The weather was mostly sunny, at around 75 degrees, and a slight breeze. We saw a wide variety of plants, and even a few animals too. Most notably, we caught and observed a green anole. Also, we identified a few different types of palm trees. We saw azaleas, and two different types of Holly as well.
