Migration of American White Pelicans

My wife and I were near the uppermost portion of Elk Mountain in Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Oklahoma this past Sunday. We observed a large flock of birds in several V-shaped groupings flying north. Looking with binoculars, I determined them to be pelicans going back to the summer habitat, maybe in Idaho. The flock was of at least 100 birds. Quite an experience to see this part of their annual cycle being played out in this particular place.
