Mammal Bone in Cedar Canyon

Date: October 1, 2017
Locality: Cedar Canyon
Area 1 (directions): The bone was found 6 or 7 miles up Cedar Canyon near a tunnel carved out for the river on the left side of the road.
Area 2 (habitat): The bone was found on a steep slope in between the river and the road (about 10 feet from the river, 50 feet from the road). It was amidst some medium height grass, bushes and dirt.
Fellow observers: Scott Adair
Time of day: 15:00
Amount of time: 5 minutes
Wind: 3
Temperature: 58 F
Sky conditions and precipitation: Mostly clear sky. A few small clouds.
Elevation: Approx. 8400 ft
Species list: The bone belonged to a single unknown mammal. My fellow observer and I were guessing that it was the femur of a medium sized mammal such as a coyote or dog. The sex was unidentifiable by the bone.
