Time of day: 1:07
Amount of time: 3 minutes
Wind: Beaufort scale 2
Temperature: 68 F
Sky conditions and precipitation: Mostly clear skies. No precipitation

Mammal tracks at Cedar Canyon Nature park

Date: 10-9-2017
Locality: Cedar Canyon Nature Park
Area 1 (directions): The tracks were found right on the banks of the river that runs through cedar canyon nature park. They were about 100 yards west of the big waterfall.
Area 2 (habitat): The tracks were found in some wet mud a couple feet from the water. There were only rocks and dirt for several yards around the track but on top of the steep bank near the tracks there were several trees and bushes.
Fellow observers: I was alone at the time of observation
Time of day: 3:05
Amount of time: 7 minutes
Wind: Beaufort scale 3
Temperature: 70 F
Sky conditions and precipitation: Mostly clear sky. Several small clouds
Elevation: Approx. 5850 ft
Species list: I identified the tracks as belonging to 2 different mammals. There was what appeared to be 1 deer (artiodactyla) track right next to what looked like 1 raccoon (carnivora) track. There were several markings in the mud that looked like other tracks but did not allow for any clear identification. sex was not identifiable from the tracks.

Deer Scat in Cedar Canyon Nature Park

Date: 9-18-2017
Locality: Cedar Canyon Nature Park
Area 1 (directions): The scat was found several meters away from the trail that winds through Cedar Canyon Nature Park (south side) near the waterfall
Area 2 (habitat): The scat was found on a slight slope between the river and the mountain. There were patches of slightly tall grass and sage brush surrounding the dirt in which the scat lay.
Fellow observers: I was alone at the time of observation
Time of day: 11:45 AM
Amount of time: 5 minutes
Wind: 3
Temperature: 70 F
Sky conditions and precipitation: Mostly clear sky. Had recently rained
Elevation: Approx. 5850 ft
Species list: I identified the scat as belonging to the order artiodactyla. I am having some difficulty differentiating rabbit scat from deer scat, but based on the size and shape, I believe this scat belongs to a deer. Most likely belongs to one individual animal and the sex is unidentifiable from evidence.

Time of day: 15:00
Amount of time: 5 minutes
Wind: 3
Temperature: 58 F
Sky conditions and precipitation: Mostly clear sky. A few small clouds.

Mountain Goat scat

Date: September 4, 2017

Locality: Near Delano Peak, Tushar Mountain range, Beaver County UT

Directions: I followed a trail that started up Beaver canyon near the Big John Flat camp ground. I found the scat on the final ascent to the peak of the Tushar Mountain Range.

Habitat: The scat was on a steep slope surrounded by thin, short yellowing grass and weeds, as well as a lot of rocks.

Fellow Observers: Despite being with other people on the hike, I made the observation myself and was not near enough to the others to collaborate with others.

Time of day: The observation was made at approximately 13:00.

Amount of time: The observation took only several minutes, although similar observations were made throughout the afternoon.

Wind: The beaufort number was estimated at 3

Temperature: approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit

Sky conditions and precipitation: The sky was partly cloudy, but mostly clear and blue. It had rained a little bit the night before the observation was made, but the ground was dry at the time of elevation.

Elevation: The elevation was around 12,000 feet. I was on the final ascent to the summit and the peak of the mountain is marked as being 12, 169 feet.

Species list: Oreamnos americanus. Estimated at around 5 individuals. The observation itself was of scat. We did perhaps observe the actual animals, but they were much too far away to photograph and confirm, much less determine sex.

Deer remains in Cedar Canyon Nature Park

Walking just off the paved path in Cedar Canyon Nature Park around 3:30 on Monday, August 28th 2017, I saw a severed deer leg. The leg was lying in the sage brush area near the base of a hill, approximately 100 meters from a small creek. After observing the leg I also observed in its proximity, what looked like two jaw bones including teeth. I was thinking that there are mostly 2 likely reasons that would put the remains in this situation. The first reason being a predator, and the second being a hunter who left the remains behind. There were no immediate observable signs of predator in the area, so the hunter scenario seems most likely.
