Nature Walk 1: The Newton Woods

For this nature walk, I took a trip through the Newton Woods located on the Newton Campus of Boston College. Although I had been there one or twice before, on this visit I took the time to observe the true beauty that is hidden within those woods. There was a great deal of biodiversity there, and everywhere I looked, was some type of wildlife. While I had heard rumors of coyotes in the woods, I luckily did not come across any. Instead, I ran into some dog walkers and got to know their dogs. The weather for this trip was very nice, about 70 degrees. I began the walk around 5:30, but as time progressed and it got darker I had to find my way out, which is fairly difficult in those woods. It is very easy to get lost in the Newton Woods, as I do not know them very well and many of the paths look the same. I saw a lot of green plants and leaves everywhere, and there were squirrels scurrying about. I found it difficult to capture pictures of animals because they move at a fast pace. Overall, I am glad I was able to develop a new appreciation for those woods and examine the biodiversity within them.
