A student staying with us had her phone at the ready! And caught what I think is a stoat 3 metres from our house. I had seen something from the corner of my eye with a very distinctive bounding gait there before . Now I think this area may be on a 'rat -run' (Stoat-run?) a very pretty little monster. Maybe that rabbit population is bringing it here.

I've noticed a sharp increase this year in rabbits on my land. Not so good if you have hopes of a garden. While checking some cows I noticed the very typical "relaxed hop" of what I thought was a rabbit crossing into the relatively long grass of my paddock. I thought if my dog wasn't getting my hints to earn her living, I better go and disturb uninvited grazers... to see far-too-long ears, a lollop of a zigg-zagging run - an adult hare, not particularly perturbed, but wanting its considerable personal space to remain uninvaded. Pity I hadn't the wits to have my phone out!
