Diario de witchinthewoods

A solo trip to the somoa dunes to see the late summer blooms of coastal golden rod, pearly everlasting, yarrow, coastal buckwheat. Met silver beach weed and yellow sand verbena for the first time.

A day trip to trinity falls with the family was beautiful. Getting to the falls is fairly quick and easy no more than quarter mile but we lost our way veering off the main path almost immediately. Our 2 mile loop was an adventure and I'm glad we got lost. The sun was glistening through the some of the largest redwood trees i've seen. We even went inside a very tall redwood that was hallowed all the way to the top. We made our way to the falls after we realized where we took the wrong turn. Lots of skunk cabbage and ferns lining the trails. The falls were small this time of year, but it was nice to climb the up the rocks and wash our faces with the cool water. We stopped along the way home to look at the seasonal plants.
