I've always loved nature. My parents tell me that I started loving insects at age 3, and I never stopped. I raised black swallowtails in kindergarten. I started an insect collection in fifth grade, which continued until college when it was invaded by museum beetles. (For that reason I'm grateful iNat exists, so I don't have to mess with physical specimens anymore!)

Even though I’m an entomologist at heart, I'm fascinated by all of God's creation. I have a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. During that time I was fortunate enough to travel to Malaysia to study tropical trees. Now I work at a company that makes scientific instruments, many for plant research and some for animal respiration measurements.

I'm mostly self-taught when it comes to identification, so please be kind!
