I am a Professor of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Chicago, and have spent my while life being outdoors whenever possible. I am most familiar with, and done research in, the northeastern U.S., the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, and Costa Rica. As a kid, I started out as a birder and shell collector, and am most familiar with birds, marine invertebrates, freshwater and coastal fishes, and mammals. Much of my research takes place in rocky intertidal and stream/river systems, but I am interested in the natural history of all systems.
