Unique Adaptation: The stem of the rose plant has thorns all around as protection from potential predators who would seek to eat the plant.
Common Adaptation: I wouldn't say my observations have a common adaptation because they are a mix of plants and animals, but they have all adapted to the Maryland climate as some of them were transplanted and were not originally growing in the place they were.
