Just a few personal highlights

There were many, many amazing photos in our project that I saw while doing identifications this past week. Some of you not only made great observations, but your photos were absolutely beautiful, as well!

I made a Google Photos album with some of my CNC pictures to share. If you make an album of your own, feel free to share with us as well! I hope you enjoy:

Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park

For my last hike I went to Reinhardt Redwood in Oakland, it was sunny a tiny bit windy but super nice weather. I never been there before which was nice because I got to experience and know about a new hike location. I saw many flowers in bloom, many bees, lots of birds which where hard to point out where they where, saw turkeys and heard lots of birds especially a woodpecker. Saw bees going from flowers to flowers and saw some random birds walking around the bushes but they would hide fa...

Let's put the conservation of pollinators at the forefront of our efforts

The stability and resilience of ecosystems is contributed to by pollinators enhancing plant reproduction, promoting genetic diversity, and supporting ecosystem functions - the functions occur in ways such as nutrient cycling, soil formation, and carbon sequestration. Healthy populations of pollinators indicate healthy ecosystems that provide adequate resources, suitable habitat, and a balanced ecosystem. Conserving pollinator species and their habitats enhances ecosystem resilience to cl...

Welcome!

This project is just getting going. Please add any observations you or others have of insects on hilltops and invite anyone who might want to contribute. The goal is to expand our knowledge of the insects that hilltop and which hills they love. My inspiration for this project comes from seeing hordes of ladybugs looking very out of place on a glaciated peak in the North Cascades in 2011. Since then I've been seeing lots of fun flies and butterflies atop peaks in the Rockies.

Possible emails to members from iNaturalist

Dear ARMN Observations members, earlier today I briefly tweaked the project to only cover April 26-29 for long enough so I could gather some City Nature Challenge 2024 statistics. I then reset the project to cover "All Dates" as was the case before. In other words, nothing is changed! However, you may receive an email from iNaturalist alerting you that there was a change. They err on the side of caution because some project changes could affect a member's observation privacy settings. Th...
