Bust Beech Leaf Disease

Beech leaf disease (BLD), which is associated with a foliar nematode species, Litylenchus crenatae, causes the decline and mortality of both native and introduced species of beech trees. The disease causes distinctive striping, curling, and thinning of the foliage. Little is known about the disease or how it spreads, so identifying new areas of infestation is crucial. Currently, there are only 37 observations of BLD on iNaturalist in New York City. Help us track the spread of the disease!

Also, consider uploading your observations to iMapInvasives, which NY state uses to track and manage invasive species.
