This week's feature is a calico pennant, photographed and logged by iNaturalist user @pleasantbaymac in Nova Scotia. While calico pennants share the habit of sitting at the tops of stems, twigs, reeds, etc., as other dragonflies do, they can often be found doing so in strong winds, fluttering like pennants. 🚩

Observation en vedette: Célithème indienne

L'observation en vedette cette semaine est une Célithème indienne photographiée et enregistrée par l'utilisateur d'iNaturalist @pleasantbaymac en Nouvelle-Écosse.

Comme les autres libellules, la Célithème indienne a l'habitude de se poser au sommet des tiges, des brindilles, des roseaux, etc., mais c'est souvent par vent fort qu'on la trouve en train de flotter comme un fanion.

Forktails are damselflies named for the tiny and hard-to-see projections off the tip of males' abdomens and are one of the identifiers of the species.
