This month we held our Citizen Science Month Challenge, and that was reflected in all of our statistics!

Our iNaturalist Project has 10 new members - the most that have ever joined in a single month, meaning just over a quarter of our project members have joined in the past 30 days! Those users are @yinglingfam, @jenseliks, @hlaub02, @kalt955, @bluebeehive, @valeheart, @em157, @erock2023, @ellenferris90, and @wildflowerb. If you know of anyone that may be interested, please direct them to our page! The more people that join us, the more aware we can all be about what wildlife can be found within our parks!
 
The project increased from 7017 to 7887 observations (+870), 1679 to 1756 species (+77), while the number of observers increased from 162 to 172 (+10).
 
Our number of Research Grade observations increased from 4686 to 5135 (+449). This equates to a Research Grade percentage of 65.11% (down slightly from 65.24%).
 
In total, there were 869 observations added to the project within April 2023. The observations include 363 plants, 139 birds, 122 insects, 49 amphibians, 49 fungi, 44 mammals, 24 reptiles, 18 arachnids, 15 gastropods, 5 fish, and 1 cyanobacteria.
 
Of these, there were 334 species recorded. Eastern red-backed salamander was the species observed the most (31 occasions), followed by bald eagle (17), yellow trout lily (16) and white-tailed deer (13).
 
The observations came from 25 observers. The top 5 observers were @jenniferc3 (201), @mikehensley75 (164), @martyndrabik (111), @yinglingfam (73), and @el_nutcase (44).
