Welcome to the Oregon iMapInvasives iNaturalist Project

The Oregon iMapInvasives project was launched in 2011 to be the place where all invasive species observation and treatment data within the state could be viewed and queried at once. Today we have over 282,000 observations for 313 non-native species being monitored and managed throughout the state. This data has been shared with managers, non-profits, and researchers to further the understanding of the impacts of invasive species and to prioritize their management.

While anyone can request an Oregon iMapInvasives login to view the data or to enter records themselves, iNaturalist presents us with another way to find invasive species locations and to help people learn more about iMap and the many species that threaten our ecology and economy.

I hope you'll have some fun participating in this project while helping expand our understanding of invasive species in Oregon.

Regards,
Lindsey Wise
Oregon iMapInvasives Data Administrator and
Oregon Biodiveristy Information Center Data Manager

Benefits of Joining the Oregon iMapInvasives Project

You may have found your way here after being notified that I've added an observation of yours to the project. Thank you for allowing curators such as myself to add your observations, which is wonderful and helps create a rich dataset for the iNaturalist project. Now I'd ask that you to take a further step and join the iMap iNaturalist project. Just click the "Join this Project" link at the top of our project page.

Why join? A few examples of the benefits:
1) Formally joining the project will give me the ability to incorporate your sightings into the iMapInvasives statewide database used by agencies, non-profits, and researchers to prioritize management and understand invasive species across the state. If you use a creative commons license for non-commercial use, that will also allow me to use your sightings in the iMapInvasives database. All observations will be attributed to you with a link back to the iNaturalist URL for your observation.
2) You will gain access to a very handy "Add from my observations" tool that will query your existing observations and generate a list that matches the iMap criteria, allowing you to quickly add all relevant sightings using the batch edit tool
3) You can easily add observations in the future from your list of observations using the "Add to Project" drop-down (see a screenshot in this how-to)

Cheers,
Lindsey
